International Women's Day Events - 8th March 2008
Although it is anticipated that many women will be joining the Million
Women Rise March
http://iwd2008.wordpress.com/2008/02/21/a-million-women-will-march-saturday-8th-march-2008/
in central London tomorrow to demand an end to violence against women
in the largest women's demonstration for years, there are a number of
other International Women's Day events happening in cities all round
the country.

Please feel free to add any or all of these links to your own web site
and / or distribute via your e-list.
We are still adding information to the blog and currently there are
nearly 200 listed - quite an increase on the 4 events (!) we first
listed on Women in London back in 1999 - see
http://www.womeninlondon.org.uk/archive/arch19992003/iwd99.htm
We were first inspired to create these listings for IWD having seen
the work of volunteers in Scotland who set up 'Quine'
(http://www.quine.org.uk) which quickly and simply allowed women to
tell each other about the events they were organising. Unfortunately
this pioneering site is no longer functioning but we hope Women in
London is continuing the tradition of women working for other women
out of commitment, and not because of patronage or financial support
of commercial companies which have prompted some other sites to claim
they are the 'official' IWD site!
We hope our new IWD blog allows women to see a range of activities
from which they can choose the one they will feel most comfortable in
participating and celebrating with other women.
Women in London is committed to using the internet as a way for women
to quickly and easily communicate with each other and exchange
information and ideas.
We have recently set up a blog to replace our public notice board as
it allows us to more easily categorise and index postings.
