The Gender Equality Duty - Are You Ready?
Wednesday 13th December 2006
Harrington Hall Hotel, 5-25 Harrington Gardens, London. SW7 4JW
The public sector is constantly adapting to meet the new needs of
modern society. A key issue is ensuring that it provides an equal
level of service to the communities that it serves, as well as
achieving diversity and promoting equality within its own workforces.
The Gender Equality Duty is a step towards securing this and towards
helping public bodies ensure that they are fully compliant with modern
diversity law.
By successfully developing and implementing your Gender Equality
Scheme your organisation will benefit from a more productive workforce
and provide a better level of service. However, implementing equality
strategies can be a challenge and if not done effectively can result
in additional work. The Gender Equality Duty - Are You Ready? will
break down the Duty and provide you with practical guidance on key
areas including:
What the Duty is and what it will achieve:
* Drawing up a strategy and putting it into action
* Assessing the impact of gender equality on your organisation and on
your service levels
* Catering for transgender issues within your scheme
* Promoting equality within the workforce - addressing recruitment,
leadership and flexible working
* Incorporating service delivery into your Gender agenda
Benefits of attending:
* Hear from the agencies that pioneered the Gender Duty: discover what
a Gender Equality Scheme will look like and what it will achieve
* Learn how to tackle some of the issues you and your organisation
might face when putting your gender scheme into practice
* Take away practical advice on how to devise your plan and put it
into action from our cross sector case studies
* Be able to plan for your implementation and ensure it is realistic
and sustainable
* Take this opportunity to network with fellow professionals from

Duty
