Disability Equality Duty - guidance for your sector
The Disability Discrimination Act 2005 places a duty on all public
sector authorities to promote disability equality. The new duty that
came into force on 4 December this year will have a significant impact
on the way in which all public services are run and on improving the
lives of disabled people including those with long-term health
conditions.

New guidance on the forthcoming Disability Equality Duty (DED) has
been added to the DRC website:
* DED and employment - a straightforward guide
* Schools and the DED (England and Wales)
* Further and higher education institutions and the DED
* Beyond Good Intentions - the DED and local government
* DED guidance for the health sectors in (England and Wales)
* Additional information for social care organisations working with
children (England)

Guidance is for England, Scotland and Wales unless otherwise stated.
