"Working to support Asian women to rebuild their life as a lone parent family"

 

We require a (1 day per month) Honorary Treasurer to manage the finance work (QuickBooks) and report to the Board of Trustees at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation in accordance with governing documents and legal requirements.

 

We require a (1 day a week) volunteer for Community Development Worker on our Health project. Some administrative skills may be required.

AWLPA is a registered charity which exists to assist Asian women who are lone parents to overcome the many difficulties they face and help them to achieve social and economic independence.

 

Our Objectives are:

·        To provide a place to meet, to discuss and share issues with other parents, concerning matters that they feel are relevant, in a friendly, safe and confidential atmosphere; and to alleviate isolation.

·        To promote a positive image of themselves as Asian women single parents and their culture and values and improve their quality of life. 

·        To provide educational, training and employment opportunities to build skills and self-confidence. 

·        To provide social and cultural opportunities for parents and children.

·        To provide support for women's health issues, counselling and emotional support.

 

We are looking for professional Asian women to join our Board of Trustees.  We also welcome professional women from other ethnic groups as Advisors to the trustees.
