Financing Sources for Film Production in Europe

Focus West and Images of Black Women with the support of the BBC Black
and Asian Forum present a one-day training session for those
interested in improving their knowledge of film financing in Europe.

The Course Tutor is Jonathan Davis who mainly works for the UK Film
Council as a Strategy Advisor. His main function is to co-ordinate
policy across the national film agencies of the EU member states.
Jonathan Davies has 20 years experience as a researcher, analyst and
consultant for European film and TV: public & private broadcasters;
the US majors; Independent producers; cable, telecom operators;
hardware, software providers; national, regional, local government and
the European Commission.

The course will cover the following areas:
* The funding of films
* The audiovisual sector: between business & public service
* The role of the US Majors
* The role of Broadcasters
* The role of public funds
* What is expected of you in return for all the public money you
receive?
* Funding & regulation of TV
* The audiovisual value chain
* Financing film & TV
* Film Exploitation
* Why making films and TV programmes in Europe is a political act


Venue: BBC Television Centre, Room B551, White City, 201 Wood Lane,
London W12 7TS (nearest station White City on the Central line).

Date and Time: Wednesday 25th October 2006 registration at 10am and
course finishes by 4pm.

Cost: £20 (Cost includes teas and coffees; lunch is not included but
you can purchase refreshments nearby) 20% Discount for Focus West &
BBAF members.

encourage more black women to enter and sustain a presence in the film

BBC Black & Asian Forum (BBAF): The Black and Asian Forum was
established to offer networking opportunities and act as a point of
