Free Banking and Financial Inclusion training
Toynbee Hall’s financial inclusion team is offering a FREE 1 day
training course in understanding financial exclusion and how to assist
your clients to access and use bank accounts.
The Financial Inclusion team at Toynbee Hall is inviting Transact
members whose clients face financial exclusion or struggle to access
bank accounts to register to attend one of four free training
sessions, taking place at Toynbee Hall throughout February.
Financial exclusion is often poorly understood, may only represent one
element of the exclusion faced by an individual or can sometimes be
missed completely as an issue. As a result of this the relevance of
understanding the financial options and products available may often
not be apparent. However, the ability to take control of your finances
can be an important step in regaining control of other areas of your
life and the ability to access an appropriate account can be of great
importance in doing this.
This one day training course begins by covering the background on
current financial inclusion and financial capability practice and
policy, before looking in detail at practical guidance on supporting
your clients to open accounts and then make best use of them.
This training aims to help you better understand:
- Financial Inclusion and Exclusion, its causes and the effects of
being excluded
- The importance of having the appropriate skills, knowledge and
confidence to be financially included and where and how you can assist
your clients to improve these
This training will equip you with the knowledge and skills to:
- Assist your clients in understanding their account needs and then
choosing an account appropriate for those needs
- Support your clients to overcome possible barriers in the account
opening process, including the provision of documents to prove your
identity and address
- Form constructive relationships with local financial institutions
- Know how best to support your clients in using different account
features
This course is for anyone whose clients face financial exclusion or
struggle to access bank accounts and would be particularly suitable
for:
- Frontline staff in hostels and housing associations
- Money and debt advisers
- Voluntary sector support workers
- Benefits and tax credit advisers
The course is being run on four separate occasions in February – the
10th, 13th, 17th and 19th. It starts at 9.30am and will be finished by
5.00pm. The course will be held at Toynbee Hall, 28 Commercial St,
London, E1 6LS.
