Prostitution Conference - Targeting Drug Use and Providing Exit
Strategies
Capita National Conference: Tuesday 29th April 2008 - Central London
Up to 95% of people involved in street based prostitution are problem
drug users.* It is, therefore, crucial to explore the link between the
two issues and adopt a joined up approach to tackle them hand in hand.
Capita's National Prostitution Conference will bring together the
police, local authorities, health and non governmental organisations
working in partnership to get to grips with this complex issue. Key
points to be addressed include:
* The benefits and challenges of a demand based approach and how this
can be implemented on a practical level
* How partnership working between statutory and voluntary
organisations can increase safety for workers in the sex trade
* How exit strategies can be developed that offer support and
realistic alternatives to people seeking routes out of on street
prostitution and drug addiction
* Delegates attending this conference will have the chance to hear
from the police, UKNSWP, DIPs and other key agencies involved in
tackling prostitution and associated drug use. By observing case
studies of support services and initiatives that work, attendees will
take away processes and ideas to use in their own areas.
