Workshop on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Equality
The Forum for Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Equality in
Post-School Education, of which the LSC is a member, is organising
three free workshops for providers wanting to provide their
understanding of equality issues in these areas. Please publicise them
through your networks.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
* identify potential issues
* have the opportunity to share good practice, and
* identify clear actions to improve and embed sexual orientation and
gender identity equality in their organisation.
The workshop will include speakers, the dissemination of research and
breakout groups focusing on:
* building networks
* sexual orientation equality, and
* gender identity equality.
Workshops will take place on:
* Wednesday 30 January 2008 in Manchester
* Wednesday 20 February 2008 in London
* Wednesday 5 March in Cardiff.
The workshops will be held from 11:00am to 16:00pm and lunch will be
provided.
The workshops are aimed at anyone wanting to improve their awareness
and understanding of sexual orientation or gender identity equality in
post-school education. This could include learners, teaching and
non-teaching staff, managers, staff with responsibility for equal
opportunities policy and practice, and union representatives from
across the learning and skills and HE sectors, including collegees,
universities, local authorities and training providers. We would
welcome delegations of staff, who can use the day to think about how
to improve the experiences of LGBT learners and staff at their
organisations. The training can count towards the mandatory thirty
hours of continuing professional development.
Please contact Dan Simons (daniel.simons at lsc.gov.uk) for an

Places will be available on a first come, first served basis.
