BBC extends deadline for charities to apply to be a One Lifeline
appeal

The BBC has extended the application deadline for the next round of
Radio 4 and BBC One Lifeline charity appeals, due to broadcast between
May and July next year.

The BBC features a different charity each week on Radio 4 and each
month on BBC One, in celebrity-driven appeals that are designed to
raise funds and public awareness of each cause.

The deadline for applications has been extended from its original June
closing date to 24 July, to ensure enough charities have the chance to
apply.

Contact the Elderly, the charity that supports the over-75s, recently
benefited from an appeal fronted by chat-show host Jonathan Ross.

"It was a huge morale boost for us as a small charity," said Lee
Lloyd, fundraising manager at the charity. "The appeal raised more
than £3,000, generated in excess of 100 enquiries from potential
volunteers and even encouraged some isolated people to contact us for
support."
