Grassroots Grants is a £130 million programme that aims to invest in a
thriving community sector.
It is funded by Office of the Third Sector (OTS) and delivered by the
Community Development Foundation (CDF).
The programme, which will run from 2008-2011 will be divided into two
parts:
- an £80 million small grants fund for community organisations; and
- a £50 million endowments programme to enable local funders to
generate additional donations on a matched basis and invest them in
endowments, thereby building their capacity to provide long-term
funding for frontline community organisations.
63 local funders have been selected to distribute grants and set up
endowments, and so far 57 have officially accepted.
Local community groups can access Grassroots Grants via their Local
Funder.

Grassroots Grants Local Funder application process for Haringey
top-tier Local Authority area, July 2008
CDF advertised for Local Funders for 149 top-tier Local Authority
areas in England as part of the Grassroots Grants programme earlier
this year. As a result of the application process CDF were unable to
select a Third Sector Local Funder for the Haringey top-tier Local
Authority area and are therefore re-advertising.
CDF and OTS are committed to finding a suitable Grassroots Grants
Local Funder for the communities of Haringey and are keen to work with
a range of interested parties in London during this application
process in order to achieve that.
We have therefore created a paper which provides a change to the
application process and to one of the eligibility criteria, plus new
timelines for this situation. If you are interested in applying you
can download this paper here. This document should be read in
conjunction with the Grassroots Grants Guidance Notes for Local Funder
Applications, Application Form and Frequently Asked Questions, version
5 as all other processes, eligibility criteria and timelines still
apply.
For more information please contact the Grants Administration team or
telephone 01223 400331.
Details of the successful Local Funders will be available on CDF's
website by the end of July 2008.
