The conference will give delegates an introduction to the Nationally
Acclaimed Freedom Programme, currently running at over 100 venues
across the UK. Programme Creator, Pat Craven, developed this
challenging and motivating training following over ten years of ‘hands
on’ work with violent men. Pat will help conference delegates to
understand how the Freedom Programme can help men and women to
recognise and understand the beliefs held by abusive men and help
women gain self-esteem and confidence. Additional speakers include
programme facilitators and graduates from the programme.

"Very positive - shows that there is light at the end of the tunnel!”

Certain Curtain Theatre Companyhas been challenging and inspiring
audiences with its own unique brand of theatre since 1989. They will
perform their ground-breaking play LADY IN RED (Shortlisted for the
Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award and WINNER of the
Outstanding Achievement Award 2007) followed by an after-show
discussion with the writers and actors. Hear the unheard voice of the
victim as she attempts to leave – Power and control, physical,
emotional and psychological abuse, fear of the unknown and ‘Why doesn’
t she just leave?’ are just some of the issues raised in this
contemporary look at domestic violence.

"This play really answers that question 'Why doesn't she just leave?'
Brilliant" Nurs
