Freemasons' Grand Charity - Non-Masonic Grants

The Freemasons' Grand Charity regularly suports national charities
that are not connected with Freemasonry.  Over more than 25 years,
hundreds have benefited from its support.  Download a list of
Non-Masonic grants awarded since 1981.

In total, over £30 million has been donated to non-Masonic charities
of all sizes. This includes over £7 million for Hospice services as
part of a special programme of support that began in 1984 and over
£1.5 million for emergency relief work worldwide.

Major Grants:
-----------------
Charities seeking funding for specific projects can apply for grants
of over £5,000. Before applying for a grant, you are advised to read
the detailed Grant Application Guidelines on website below.  The
majority of grants awarded are for between £10,000 and £25,000. A few
grants of over £50,000 may be approved each year. Grants are not
normally made for capital building projects, whether for new
buildings, renovation, updating or extension. Examples of projects
supported by a Major Grant can be found in the Case Studies section.

Minor Grants

Smaller charities can apply for a grant of £5,000 or less for general
purposes In 2008, The Freemasons' Grand Charity intends to award minor
grants totalling around £50,000. Examples of recent grants are on
website below. The grants of up to £5,000 are given towards core
funding for smaller charities whose annual income does not exceed
about £1 million.

Major and minor grants are awarded under the following headings:
* Vulnerable people;
* Medical Research;
* Youth Opportunities.

Major and minor grants are only made to registered charities in
England and Wales. Applicant charities must operate nationally,
throughout England and Wales. Local charities (i.e. serving an
individual city or region) should apply to the Provincial Grand Lodge
of the region in which they operate Contact details for Provincial

Major and minor grant applications deadlines are end of May for July
Meeting. Applications received after the closing date will be held
over to the next meeting.

Disaster Relief Grants

Emergency grants for disaster relief can be authorised by the
President of the Grand Charity

Hospice Grants

Hospices can apply for a grant towards their annual running costs
