Do remember that we have launched the Valuing the BME Third Sector
campaign for greater recognition of the vital contribution made by BME
Third Sector organisations and need your support in lobbying MPs to
sign the Early Day Motion in learning more about the issues facing the
BME Third Sector. Information about the campaign and guidance on

London BME regional network MiNet are looking to make 10 appointments
for members to sit on its Advisory Group. Members will be expected to
commit to attend quarterly meetings and comply with certain conditions
as specified under the job description. In return for your
participation and insight a financial contribution of £35 will be made
and transport expenses will also be reimbursed. Further details from

The Centre for Educational Success (CES) has been set up as part of
the Black Training and Enterprise Group and aims to raise and improve
the educational attainment of children and young people from Black and
Minority Ethnic backgrounds. We have recently updated our website to
include brand new features for parents, young people and organisations
who wish to learn more about Educational Success towards Black and
Minority Ethnic Groups. We also have a brand new Free E-News Letter
that aims to keep people up to date on current activities and

There is a Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority Women Councillors
Taskforce regional event taking place 6-8.30pm on Thursday 12 March
2009 at the University of Chester. Join Baroness Uddin, Chair of the
Women Councillors Taskforce and other inspirational speakers like
Taskforce member, Councillor Mia Jones at a free event and hear about
the steps they took in order to participate fully in public life. You
will be given the opportunity to participate in two interactive

The Tenant Services Authority (TSA) is offering bursaries for up to
75% of the cost for 5 places on the Leadership for Housing Programme,
for interested and committed B&ME candidates. The Programme, which is
run jointly by the NHF and Lancaster University aims to improve
leadership capabilities and develop the needs of current and future
leaders in the social housing sector. Further information about the

Futurebuilders England and the National Programme for Third Sector
Commissioning have set up a grant fund to help small voluntary
organisations tender for public sector contracts. The new fund is open
to organisations that have been trading for one year and have
turnovers of less than £250,000. Organisations can receive grants
worth up to 10 per cent of the value of the contracts they want to bid
for, up to £15,000. Contracts must have a minimum value of £30,000.
