Westminster Community Computers

The Community Computers scheme is part of Westminster City Council's Living City
programme, to make Westminster a place where everyone, from residents and
business owners to tourists and commuters, can live, work, thrive and prosper.

The council's computers need upgrading every three to four years as they become
too old to run major systems and become too expensive to maintain. However, they
are still suitable for internet use and to run office software and are
sufficient to meet the needs of Westminster's voluntary groups.

The Council's redundant computers will be security checked and cleaned of data
before being loaded with software and offered for reuse to eligible volunteer
groups or individuals.

Eligible groups must be classed as a charity or a not for profit organisation
and be able to show how their service or activity meets the needs of people
living, working or studying in Westminster.

Each voluntary group will each receive around £700 worth of computer equipment
and software including highly sought after lap top models.

Westminster City Council will donate at least 250 computers every year -
equivalent to almost £200,000 worth of equipment and software - to charities
across the city.

If you would like to apply, please complete the attached form. Applicants who
meet the essential criteria will be placed on a waiting list and as soon as
computers are available they will be issued.
