UnLtd's Refugee Initiative for Social Entrepreneurs
RISE, the Refugee Initiative for Social Entrepreneurs is funded by the European
Refugee Fund Phase III with the support of the UK Border Agency. The RISE
Programme is run by UnLtd, a nationwide charity which supports social
entrepreneurs - people with vision, drive, commitment and passion - to change
the world for the better.
Having already supported over 100 refugee projects, this programme aims to
unleash and encourage the potential of refugees as social entrepreneurs.
UnLtd will support refugees to set up projects that will encourage community
cohesion and make their communities happier, healthier and safer places.
This support includes: Awards of between £500 and £5000 to help individuals or
small groups of refugees turn their ideas, into a reality. Dedicated project
management support, including training sessions to develop key skills and
mentoring opportunities to connect with experts in the field, as well as access
to a wealth of other resources. Projects must: address a social problem have a
social impact be a new initiative or a clear expansion of an existing project be
an opportunity for you to learn and gain new skills need an UnLtd Award in order
to succeed Closing date is 21st March 2010. You must be a refugee with proof of
status, living in England, over the age of 16, applying as an individual or as
part of an informal group.
